Who We Are

Welcome to the website of the Indian Mounds Rock & Mineral Club of Wyoming, Michigan.  Our objective is to develop and encourage interest in, and to further the study of minerals, gems, fossils, rock, lapidary arts, and earth science.  

The Indian Mounds Rock & Mineral Club is a member of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization.

When and Where We Meet

Club Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday, September through May, at Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs St SE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49506. (open a new window to location on Mapquest)  Fifth Reformed Church is located one block north of Burton Street between Breton Road and Plymouth Avenue (turn North on Hutchinson Avenue or Englewood Drive). 

A Junior Club meeting is  held during the business portion of our regular meetings (click for more details).

Our April meeting is a 'potluck', starting at 6:15 pm, followed by a program. Bring a hot and cold dish to share and your own table service.

We do not meet in December. If the Grand Rapids Public Schools close because of weather on a meeting Tuesday, we will not meet (if it is not safe enough to let kids go to school, it is also not safe enough to let them attend a rock club meeting).

At 6:30 p.m., on the 3rd Tuesday, June through August, our club has a picnic at Pinery Park in Wyoming, which is on DeHoop just north of 28th Street, weather permitting. (open a new window to location on Mapquest)  Our usual spot is the northwest tables behind the north parking lot on the west side of DeHoop.  Bring a hot and cold dish to share, your own drinks, and table service.

What You Get

Funding the Fun

Dues are $25 per family, $20 per single adult, or $5 per junior (with a sponsoring member). If you want a hardcopy newsletter add $10 (email newsletter included in dues). 
New members:  New members joining at or after our April show, through October, are half off for the current calendar year.  New members joining in November or December pay full price for the following calendar year (and get November and December for 'free').  (Membership Application)
